Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 Cups All Purpose Flour + more for kneading
  • 2 1/4 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp. Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. Butter Cold and unsalted
  • 1/4 tsp. + a pinch Salt
  • 1/4 Cup + 2 Tbsp. Water
  • 1/2 Cup Oil
Instructions
  1. Combine dry ingredients in a bowl and whisk totether.
  2. Add cold butter in small pieces. Use clean fingers and crumble butter into flour mixture.
  3. Add water to flour and stir with a spoon at first to combine. When dough comes together, start using hands to knead. Use a little more water if too dry and not coming together. Or a little more flour if too wet.
  4. Heat a medium deep pot with oil on medium heat.
  5. Roll medium size balls of dough in a circle in your hands to make a ball. Drop in oil, a few pieces at a time about 1" apart.
  6. Watch carefully as they cook and turn on each side to brown. You may lower heat if they are cooking too fast.
  7. Line a plate with paper towels and remove from pot to plate as they cook. Each one may take around 5-6 minutes to cook completely.
Recipe Notes

If using a deep fryer, turning often won't be necessary and cooking time may be faster.
